Preserving Roadside Pop Architecture
The Hood Milk Bottle has come a long way form a roadside ice cream stand to a Boston icon.
We are pleased to have been given the opportunity to partner with the Boston Children’s Museum and HP Hood to help lead the restoration of a Boston landmark.
The 40-foot tall structure built by Arther Gagner of Taunton in 1934, was used for a homemade ice cream stand making it one of the country’s first fast-food drive-in restaurants. After being abandoned for years, Hood purchased and donated it to the Boston Children’s Museum in 1977.
If real, the Hood Milk Bottle would hold 58,620 gallons of milk.
